Step 1 - Consultation

A professional facial should always begin with a consultation. You may fill out a form with questions about your lifestyle, current skincare routine, skin concerns, diet, how much water you drink, and the extra skincare products you are currently using.

Your facialist may also ask other important questions, such as:

  • Do you know your skin type?
  • How does your skin react to new products?
  • What would you like to improve about your skin? Do you have any medical concerns or allergies?

These questions are essential to providing a safe, luxurious, and tailored experience for clients, allowing an esthetician to treat specific skin concerns in the best way possible.

Step 2 - Cleansing

After the facial consultation is completed and the treatment plan is created, the Esthetician starts preparing the canvas!

It’s imperative to start with a fresh base to ensure that the facial treatment is effective, and the client feels relaxed and comfortable. This process usually involves delicately wrapping the client’s hair in a plush towel or headband.

Once the hair is out of the way, the esthetician applies a gentle cleanser to the skin to remove any makeup or impurities, ensuring that the facial treatment penetrates the skin.

The esthetician may opt to use soft cotton pads, cloths, or a facial brush with lukewarm water to cleanse the face. If the client prefers a spa-like experience, the esthetician may even opt to gently apply steam to the face!

This process can enhance the cleansing process, soften the skin, and open pores for better penetration of facial products in the next steps.

Step 3 - Analysis

During a facial treatment, an esthetician may examine your skin more closely by looking at its texture, any irregularities, and your complexion. They may use a magnifying lamp to help them see any smooth areas, roughness, dryness, or breakouts. This helps them choose the best skincare products for your treatment.

Step 4 - Exfoliation

Exfoliating your skin is really important to make it healthy. During the treatment, an esthetician removes the dead skin and oil that has built up on your skin, which is especially good for people who get acne. This buildup can block your pores and make your skin look dull, but exfoliating can remove it and make your skin look brighter and smoother. As we get older, more dead skin can build up, so exfoliating can help your skin look great again. The esthetician will choose the best way to exfoliate your skin based on its type, so you can get the best results.

Step 5 - Extraction

Getting rid of blackheads and pimples is an important part of a facial. A qualified facialist will remove these impurities in the right way so that your skin is not harmed. They use professional techniques that are gentle and keep your skin clean. It’s better than using home remedies, which can damage your skin. Good extraction helps to avoid future breakouts and will not leave scars on your skin.

Step 6 - Facial Massage

Facial massage is an incredible treatment that is essential for anyone who desires healthy, youthful, and rejuvenated skin.

This transformative skincare technique is both soothing and revitalizing, working to nurture the skin while providing a relaxing experience.

A professional esthetician understands the importance of selecting the right skincare products that are best suited to each client’s unique needs, ensuring superior results.

Using an array of proven massage techniques such as gentle strokes, pinching, and tapping, the esthetician administers the facial massage, improving blood circulation, and reducing tension in the face and neck.

This increased blood flow delivers much-needed oxygen and nutrients to the skin, stimulating collagen production and giving it a radiant and refreshed appearance.

The client will look and feel amazing as they enjoy the benefits of the facial massage well after the session is over.

Step 7 - Mask Application

A corrective facial mask is a fantastic way to target specific skin issues, using targeted ingredients. Whether the client suffers from oily, acne-prone, dry or tired skin, there are a range of masks that trained facialists can apply to directly improve these issues. These are left to work for a number of minutes, allowing the client to relax and unwind.

Step 8 - Finishing Products

To finish a facial, the last step is to keep the skin looking fresh and feeling better. Firstly, a toner will be applied to help the final products go deeper into the face. Then, specific serums and concentrates designed for different skin types will be used. Eye cream will be applied to give a bright look to the eyes, and lip balm will be used to care for delicate lip skin. Lastly, a personalised moisturiser will be used to keep skin looking dewy and repair dryness.
